Turkish-backed Syrian rebels have seized control of the key town of Al Bab, in northern Syria, from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), according to Turkey's state media and rebel officials.
Anadolu Agency said fighters from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) group captured the centre of Al Bab on Thursday, and were now clearing mines and explosive devices laid by ISIL in the town in Aleppo province.
A Turkey-based rebel official from a group previously involved in the fighting also said the FSA had taken control of the city, but that there were still pockets of ISIL resistance.
